Parts of Changklan are best known for the daily occurring Night Bazaar, but what about other areas? Especially those not open at night? Although not the biggest quarter in Chiang Mai, Changklan has a few things which are worth highlight here:

Art in Paradise

Art in Paradise is a stunning illusion art museum and features more than 130 3D painting spread over two stories. Whether it’s hunting crocodiles, surfing or escaping King Kong, the paintings require a mix of imagination and involvement from the viewers. The paintings come in various shapes and sizes, from small canvas to multi storey artworks whereat each painting features a small instruction on how to use it best. Art in Paradise Chiang Mai is currently the worldwide largest museum of its kind and has two smaller branches in Thailand (Bangkok and Pattaya), one in Manila and one in Langkawi, Malaysia.

@ Curve

One of Chiang Mai’s latest malls. @Curve features several educational institutions, a gym that focuses mainly on group activities such as aerobic and kickboxing as well several cafés.

Located right next to ‘Art in Paradise’ is one of Chiang Mai’s premier hotels, the Shangri-La Hotel Chiang Mai. It’s an easy walk from here to the vibrant Night Bazaar, the electronic mall Pantip Plaza and the riverside. Khum Kaew Palace Khantoke

This special restaurant is part of the Vista Hotel in Chiang Mai and offers a perfect introduction of the rich Lanna culture and, of course, cuisine. Culinary highlights such as crispy pork, spicy sausage (sai oua), fried vegetables, fresh mushroom soup, among many others awaiting you. The dinner is accompanied by fascinating musical and dance performances.

Whole Earth Restaurant

Whole Earth was one of the first vegetarian restaurants in Chiang Mai but offers now an extended menu with meat and seafood dishes. The restaurant is set in a beautiful teak house which resembles typical Lanna architecture. Mainly Indian and Thai dishes are offered here, such as samosas, masala, kofta, chicken tikka and green curry with chicken.

Culture

Chang Klan Mosque

One of Chiang Mai’s bigger mosques. Services are held in Thai and Arabic.
